Savory Chickpeas Ingredients:
3 cups of garbanzo/chickpea beans
1 cup onions, diced
1 1/2 medium tomatoes, diced
1 1/2 cups of water
6 tablespoons of olive oil
1/2 teaspoon of turmeric
1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon of red chili pepper powder (not flakes)
1 teaspoon of coriander
1 teaspoon of cumin
1/2 teaspoon of ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon of salt
Prepare the chickpeas. If using dry beans: soak overnight and cook first. If using canned: remove from can and thoroughly rinse.
Place tomatoes in medium pot, mash them.
Add in the remaining ingredients.
Bring to a boil.
Cook over low-medium heat for 3 minutes.
